Our Vision

The vision of the home and indeed its management is to provide a home and to nurture children in difficult circumstances in a Christian environment. This we believe will give hope, security and love thereby producing citizens who can be of value to the nation.

Our Mission

The mission is to nurture and bring up the children in a Christian home environment with the aim of building up self-esteem, confidence and self-reliance within the child.

Our Aims and Objectives

  • to be able to do away with depending on donations.
  •  to impart life skills to the children for them to be able to face challenges of life out there.
  • to be able to eventually utilize the resources of land and water to maximum capacity.
  • to be able to assist HIV/AIDS patients and others within the surrounding communities with home based care skills and nutritional food handouts.
  • to be able to produce enough food for consumption and surplus to generate much needed income.

Challenges

The daily needs of the children most of whom where orphaned and are victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Maintaining of the primary school at the center and reaching out with support to the disadvantaged in the resettlements and commercial farms around Manhinga.

What we provide| Our Support

With the help of well wishers and church members we have managed to assist quite a number of children at Manhinga, contributing towards their upkeep from the time they come to the centre from the department of Social Welfare. Below is a list of the type of help that we provide:

Shelter

The children stay in the cluster houses on the farm under the guardianship of Christian child minders who also doubles as their foster parents. The set up allows them to experience life as a traditional family.

Food

Food is prepared as per village supervised by the foster parents with the elder children carrying out different daily chores using a duty roasters. Extra care is always taken that the food is prepare properly and it is of high nutritional value. We complement the food stuffs obtained through donations by maintaining a vegetable garden at every village.

Education

We have established a pre-school program which caters for both Manhinga children and those from the surrounding communities at Manhinga Primary School. For secondary education the children attend Rufaro Mission in Masvingo. We hope the development of the skills training centre at Manhinga will assist our children before they are integrated into society.

Health care, moral upbringing and community health training sums some of the services we provide at Manhinga.

It is the vision that we have today that once we manage to set up a Skills Training Centre then we can be able to empower our children with relevant life skills that will go a long way in helping increase the skills base of our country.
