VOLUNTEERS
Background information
Volunteers world wide help
lessen the strain of working with the needy in our society. So given the size of the work at Manhinga, we believe that with the assistance of volunteer workers the challenge will be made simple and enjoyable. We therefore seek volunteers from all walks of life to partner with us. We had a volunteer at the farm for two years through an internationla voluntary services organisation, his presence made quite a difference in the lives and perceptions of the children.
School Holidays Program
We welcome volunteers who offer
to take some of our children on holiday and help them get acquainted
with family life.
College and University Students on Vaccation
We also welcome university and college students on
vacation who can come and help make a difference to the lives of the
children at Manhinga. There are many different jobs that can be
accomplished by your presence here bearing in mind that currently we do
not even have employees at the farm, not even security personnel. We
require your skills and encouragement to our children.
High School Clubs
School clubs (Interact,
Scripture Union etc), voluntary organisations and anyone with a calling to
charity work is welcome to be of service to the needs of Manhinga
Children's home.
Employment Challenges/ Internship Program
The law only allow us to keep
children at Manhinga until the age of 18 years, but in the past we have realized
that at such an age nothing much would have changed in the lives of
these children that will help them to manage to be on their own after
Manhinga. We are therefore appealing to companies who can take our
children as interns and assist them in launching their careers.
Voluntary Procedures
Once you identify an area of need you are welcome to get in touch with us through our email and phone numbers on this website. The Manhinga Trust does have offices in Harare and that is where you can get more information about the clearance procedures to be followed. |
